The golden State of California, once a beacon of hope and prosperity, has fallen on tough times. Lots of blame to go around, but mainly a result of poor policy driven by progressive ideas, environmental overreach, and plain stupidity. This is no more evident than in the demise of farming in the Central Valley, leading to a third world culture insulated from the snotty elite of the coastal enclaves of a still thriving economy. For a gritty look at what is going on in the other California, please take the time to read the wonderful article from the National Review titled Two Californias

Flyover Country is a mindset rather than a location. It is a place in the American consciousness where family values still rule and self reliance is preferred over the nanny state. The people of Flyover Country are derided by the effete liberal left for clinging to their values and beliefs. So be it, we cling proudly to the true meaning of the American experience.

Look on the bright side:
California is having a show and tell for the rest of the States. It's just a matter of time before the squalid Central Valley and the crime ridden urban areas collapse into violence once the federal cash cow goes dry. As it most assuredly will!
I will take no pleasure in the coming human disaster but I damned sure won't contribute a nickel to help relieve it. Henry Mencken was right when he said "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it. Good and hard."

There is no bright side. A failure in California will be seen as a failure of our entire system. They will be bailed out by the rest of the American taxpayers--they are the poster child of "Too Big To Fail". Unless, of course, wise men prevail and they are forced to take their medicine. When the hungry and vicious hordes arrive on the streets of San Francisco, wonder what the left coast elites do? Flee, of course.
